Dress Code:

As a specialty studio, our background and lighting are exactly calculated to render your portrait as an exquisite piece of art. It is important for the success of your portrait that certain styles and colors of clothing be used, while avoiding other styles and colors.

We ask that you please dress formal. For many, this becomes the most elegant portrait they will possess in a lifetime. Please note that most our portraits are full length, so please remember to have proper shoes that will compliment your attire. In general, we ask that you wear dark clothing so as to keep the light reflecting on the face and eyes; not the clothing. Our contoured lighting background does not work with light color tops. Having done over ten thousand portraits, our experience suggest that the following works best:

Men - Dark Jackets (tuxedo or suit), white shirt, tie, and dark pants and proper dress shoes.

Ladies - Dark (black, navy, burgundy, dark green, etc.) dress or gown. White lace around collar is okay. White gowns & wedding dresses are also okay. Little or no pattern is preferred.  Classic Jewelry such as diamonds, pearls, etc. are encouraged. Don't forget to have fabulous shoes.

Young Girls - Dark or jewel toned solid dresses are preferred, but ivory, cream or off white are also acceptable if they are 4 or under. Long sleeves are recommended for adults, but girls usually are preferred to have short or no sleeves. Dress shoes to go with their outfit.

Young Boys - Same as men, or a solid dark sweater. If under 4, a white shirt with bow tie can be appropriate.

Note - If you absolutely must be casual, the following guidelines need to be followed for it to be a success: You should still be in something dark and solid; not busy. Also, a style that will look acceptable 20 years down the line, as many people make the mistake of wearing trendy clothing only to regret it when fashions change. Remember it’s your face and eyes that should draw the attention in the portrait not your clothing.

If you would like something less formal***

NO jeans

NO busy patterns (stripes, florals, checkered, plaids)

NO bright colors as it will draw attention away from the face

Note: you may be turned away based off not abiding by wardrobe guidelines

Pets - Pets are people too! We love it when you want to include your pet so we only have a few rules. If your pet is well behaved and can handle the stimulation of the studio lights and meeting new people, fantastic. Have them groomed and bring treats and please be self-contained with all of their needs such as water bowls, grooming brushes, etc. We love service animals and they get our greatest respect.
